Well, many of us have heard of King David who was the King of Israel and many of us have also laughed at the story of the boy David challenging the giant Goliath striking Goliath in the forehead with a stone from his sling knocking him out and then chopping off Goliaths head with his sword.

What's so funny about that you may ask?

  • Well this was just one of many stories in the Bible with no evidence out side the Bible to prove it. 
  • Now we can stop laughing as for the first time ever there is Archaeological evidence which was discovered in 1993 at Tel Dan called THE HOUSE OF DAVID INSCRIPTION also known as the Tel Dan Stele and Mesha Stele.
  • This is proof and is circumstantial evidence that David had once lived, or at least that the Judahites believed he had. 
  • Who is the author of this INSCRIPTION?  
  • It is believed to be Hazael or his son, Bar Hadad II/III, who were kings of Damascus and enemies of the kingdom of Israel. 
  • It is also dated to about 835 BCE, roughly 150 years after the supposed time of David,
  • The House of David Inscription mentions King David's dynasty, the House of David. 
  • As usual many denied the historical existence of King David until this broken fragment of basalt stone popped out of the earth with a wonderful surprise.
